Snow in Lassen Park…are you ready?
now has closed the main road through Lassen Volcanic National Park.
The road is closed at the Loomis Ranger Station at the northwest entrance and at the visitor center at the southwest entrance, according to the park’s Web site.
But that doesn’t mean visitors should stay home for the winter, said the park’s chief ranger, John Roth.
Visitors who still want to come play in the snow are welcome, Roth said.
Two other routes are open: the Butte Lake Road from Highway 44 and the Juniper Lake Road accessible via Highway 36, according to the park’s Web site.
Roth said if visitors enter at the south entrance, they’ll be able to visit the new Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, which is open year round.
