Redding’s Incredible Lifestyle!
Redding is the ultimate place in Northern California to live! One of my favorite things is watching the trains as they cross the Union Pacific railroad trestle, built in 1939. My Uncle Ray Brock worked for Union Pacific at that time and was among the handful of employees that took the very first ride across the bridge. So the trestle is very special to me, and I’m lucky to see it everyday. In fact, this picture is taken from our veranda. >
We love living here and working as Realtors for Real Estate Professionals GMAC. Shasta County offers an incredible lifestyle for everyone. Beautiful mountains surround Redding. Lakes and streams are minutes away. The Sacramento River runs through town and the “river trail” has become one of the best trail destinations in the West with miles of running, walking and bike trails.
The trail offers stunning views of the river, mountains, and local wildlife. One morning, when Bob was walking the trail, he saw a Bald Eagle majestically perched on a jagged rock above the river with a fish in its beak. Suddenly a Golden Eagle swept by, ripping the fish from the Bald Eagle’s mouth and flying off. Most people don’t see something like that in a lifetime.
The Sacramento River also offers some of the best fishing there is,
and it is only five minutes from our house. So both Bob and our sons love going fishing even if they only have a half hour or so. They enjoy trying to figure out if they catch the same fish time and time again.
Unwinding after a busy day is easy to do here because the beauty of the outdoors surrounds you. Even if you’re unable to live here, it’s a great place to visit. You’ll have fun discovering all there is in Shasta County.
